Saturday Sizzle: On Saturday, the Barracuda continue their five-game homestand with the second of back-to-back against the Henderson Silver Knights (Vegas Golden Knights). The Barracuda scored six times en-route to a 6-1 win on Friday against HSK and are now 1-1-2-0 against the Knights this season, scoring the first goal in every game. The Barracuda are 10-14-2-2 all time versus Henderson and 8-4-1-1 at home. The Barracuda will travel to Henderson on Dec. 22nd and 23rd, their final trip of the season to the Dollar Loan Center.
Showtime: For the first time in team history, the Barracuda will be broadcasted live on linear TV on Saturday. The voice of the Barracuda, Nick Nollenberger, will be joined by Sharks alumnus Scott Hannan on NBC Sports California. You can also listen to the game on the Sharks Audio Network. Saturday will be the first of three games broadcasted on NBCSC throughout the year.
Friday Fun: The Barracuda kicked off a five-game homestand with a 6-1 win over the Silver Knights on Friday at Tech CU Arena. The victory was the Barracuda’s first in four attempts against the Knights and matched the largest margin of victory this season. It was also the Barracuda’s first win of the year when facing a team in the first game of a back-to-back (1-8-0-0) and the first win to begin a homestand (1-2-1-0). Danil Gushchin set a new career-high with four points (1+3=4) and Nathan Todd (1+2=3) picked up his first three-point game in a Barracuda sweater, and in the process, extended his point streak (3+4=7) to a season-long four games. Radim Simek, Leon Gawanke, Ethan Cardwell, and Brett Kemp also scored in the win and Eetu Makiniemi made 26 saves.
Silver Lining: The Silver Knights enter Saturday having dropped its last five in a row (0-4-0-1) and are just 1-6-1-2 in its last 10. The Knights began a five-game road trip on Wednesday in Ontario, falling 3-1 to the Reign.
Michigan Men: Former University of Michigan teammates Thomas Bordeleau and Brendan Brisson will square off for the eighth time in their careers on Saturday. Brisson (Round 1, 29th overall) was selected by Vegas nine picks before Bordeleau (Round 2, 38th overall) in the 2020 NHL Draft. Brendan’s dad, Pat, who is Bordeleau’s agent, is longtime friends with Thomas’ dad, Sebastien.
Hometown Hero: Vegas native Gage Quinney, who has been with the Golden Knights organization for all six years of its existence, enters Saturday leading the Silver Knights in points against the Barracuda (1+4=5) this season and has 24 points (8+16=24) in 21 career games against San Jose. Quinney did not play on Friday and has now missed the last three games. Gage’s dad, Ken, spent five years with the Las Vegas Thunder of the International Hockey League (IHL) from 1993-98.
Cuda Killer: 12-year-vet Byron Froese has 26 points (15 goals, 11 assists) in 28 career games against the Barracuda. Froese is in his second year with the Golden Knights organization after serving as the captain of the Stockton Heat from 2019-22. Entering Saturday, Froese has no points in his last 11 games and just one goal over his last 14 outings.
Familiar Foe: Veteran forward Adam Cracknell, who is now in his 18th season of pro and first with the Silver Knights, is T-second on the team in points (16), goals (8), assists (8), and is T-first in power-play goals (3) and shooting percentage (26.7%). Cracknell is in his fourth stop in the Pacific Division (SD, BAK, TUC, HSK) and third in his last three seasons. In 38 career games against the Barracuda, he has 35 points (13+22=35). Between five professional leagues (NHL, AHL, KHL, ECHL, Denmark), the 38-year-old has skated in 1,084 games, while collecting 282 goals and 343 assists.
