Tonight’s Matchup: For the first time, the Barracuda travel north of the border and take on the Manitoba Moose. San Jose is 6-4-1 all-time against Central Division teams and 2-1-0 this year. The Moose are 9-8-2-1 at MTS Centre this season meanwhile San Jose is on a three-game road winning streak and are now 9-7-0-2 away from SAP Center.
Road Warriors: After beginning their season long seven-game road trip 0-and-2, the Barracuda have reeled off three straight road victories which matches a franchise high.
Shining Star: Danny O’Regan scored three times in Monday’s AHL All-Star Classic in Lehigh Valley and among rookies, the former Boston University product is now second in points (13-24-37), first in assists, T-seventh in goals, and T-10th overall in the AHL in points. O'Regan is first on the Barracuda in points, second in goals and second in assists.
All World: Barracuda All-Star netminder Troy Grosenick is riding a season-long three game winning streak and is first in the AHL in shutouts (6), first in save percentage (.929) and second in goals-against average (2.10). Last Friday, Grosenick made a season-high 43 saves to earn a 4-1 win over the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Heed Check: Earlier this week, Barracuda defenseman Tim Heed was recalled to the San Jose Sharks as an additional defenseman. Before his recall, Heed had points (4+9=13) in nine of his last ten games. Among AHL defenseman, the 26-year-old is T-second in points (11+25=36), third in goals, first in assists, T-second in power-play goals (7) and T-first in game-winning goals (4) and is T-13th in points among all skaters. Heed is second on the Barracuda in points, first in assists, and fourth in goals.
Really Good: Barclay Goodrow netted his team-leading 14th goal in San Jose’s 4-2 win over Milwaukee last Saturday and has goals in two straight games and three of his last four. Goodrow is fourth on the Barracuda in points (14+7=21), T-first in shorthanded goals (2) and has the lone Barracuda hat trick this season (11/11/16 at TEX).
Pure Gold: After tying for the team lead in goals (22) in his rookie season in 2015-16, Nikolay Goldobin is finding his scoring touch as of late. The former first rounder has three goals in his last two games and points in his last three straight. Goldobin is third on the Barracuda in points (10+20=30), fifth in goals, third in assists and T-third in power play goals.
San Jose’s Last Time Out: In his return to the San Jose Barracuda, Kevin Labanc (5) extended his point streak to eight games and scored just 36 seconds into the first on a breakaway. Nikolay Goldobin (10), Tim Heed (11) and Barclay Goodrow (14) also tallied to lead San Jose to a 4-2 win over the Milwaukee Admirals at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena last Friday night. Troy Grosenick made 24 saves to earn his third straight win.
Manitoba’s Last Time Out: Brendan Lemieux (8) and Kyle Connor (6) each scored for the Moose, and Eric Comrie made 35 saves to earn Manitoba a 2-1 win over the Charlotte Checkers at Bojangles’ Arena in Charlotte last Saturday night.
