Roadie Wrap: The Barracuda close out their two-game road trip in Coachella Valley on Wednesday with the first game of a home and road with the Firebirds. The Barracuda are 1-3-1-0 against the Firebirds this season and 1-1-0-0 at the Acrisure Arena. After Wednesday, SJ and CV will faceoff two more times to close out their eight-game season series. Lifetime against Seattle’s affiliate, the Barracuda are 1-8-2-2 and 1-2-1-3 at Acrisure Arena.
Last Time Out: The Barracuda gave up eight goals on Tuesday in Ontario, falling 8-2 to the Reign. The loss matched the most goals against this season and largest margin of defeat. In the loss, Jack Studnicka recorded the second two-goal game of his career and now has four goals in his last four appearances. Reign forward Sam Fagemo finished with a game-high five points (3+2=5), notching his second hat trick against the Barracuda this season, and now has 11 goals and five assists in six games against San Jose.
Last Meeting: The Barracuda were dealt a 5-4 loss on Wednesday at Tech CU Arena against the first-place Coachella Valley Firebirds. In the game, the Barracuda gave up three power-play goals. Nathan Todd recorded three points (1+2=3) and Cole Cassels and Jacob MacDonald picked up a pair of assists. Kyle Rau, Scott Sabourin, and Jack Studnicka also scored for the Barracuda.
Cuda Check: The Barracuda enter Wednesday seven points out of a playoff spot with 20 games to go. SJ has dropped four in a row (0-3-0-1) after Tuesday’s loss at Ontario and are 3-5-1-1 in their last 10. The Cuda have 10 power-play goals in its last five games (10/25=40%) and now rank T-11th in the league on the advantage (19.9%) and 10th in goals for (3.17).
Todd’s Time: Forward Nathan Todd collected an assist on Tuesday and now has points in and assists in his last five (2+6=8) and points in eight of nine (6+7=13). Since recording just one goal in his first 15 games with SJ, Todd has potted 15 in his last 36 outings and is averaging over a point-per-game during that stretch (14+22=38). The Kemptville, Ontario, native is first on the team in goals (16), points (43), power-play goals (5), power-play assists (12) and second in shots (126), and assists (27).
Fired Up: The Firebirds are coming off a 2-1 OTL at Ontario on Friday but still have points in 13 of 14 (10-1-2-1) and sit atop the Pacific Division. The Firebirds ranks third in the league in goals for (3.44), fourth in goals against (2.64) and first in shots for (33.98).
Dynamic Duo: Over the last two years, Kole Lind and Max McCormick have combined for 36 points (17+19=36) in 13 games against the Barracuda. Both players are T-seventh in the AHL in scoring (44) entering Wednesday, and Lind is fourth in the assists (34).
