Tonight’s Matchup: After shutting out the Ontario Reign, 5-0, on Friday, the Barracuda wrap up their 10-game season series with the Bakersfield Condors on Saturday at the Rabobank Arena. The Barracuda are 3-4-1-1 against the Edmonton Oilers affiliate this season and 22-15-2-4 all-time. Since shutting out Bakersfield, 4-0, on December 9 at the SAP Center, the Barracuda have dropped the last five meetings and have been outscored 29-to-13 in those games. Since beginning 2019 0-4-1-1, the Condors have since gone 21-2-1-1 and clinched their first playoff bid with a 3-2 win at San Diego on Friday.
True That: Sophomore forward Alex True netted his team-leading 23rd goal of the season on Wednesday and now ranks third in Barracuda history in goals scored (38). The 23 tallies are tied for the second most in a single season for a San Jose skater and the Denmark native now ranks first on the Barracuda in points (49), goals (23), game-winning goals (6), second in points-per-game (.80) and fourth in assists (26).
El Cap: Barracuda Captain John McCarthy netted a pair of goals on Friday and now ranks as the franchise’s all-time leader in games played (252), goals (58), assists (73), power-play goals (16) and shorthanded goals (5).
Frank the Tank: Francis Perron collected a pair of assists on Friday and now ranks third on the Barracuda in goals (17), third in assists (27), third in points (43), and second in power-play goals (7). Perron was included in the offseason deal that brought Erik Karlsson to San Jose from Ottawa.
Dynamic Dezy: Nick DeSimone extended his point streak to a career-high seven games (two goal, five assists) with a goal on Friday now ranks sixth in the AHL among defensemen in scoring (43) and sixth in goals (12). DeSimone is one goal shy of Tim Heed’s single-season Barracuda record for goals scored by a d-man (14 – 2016-17).
