BARRACUDA SCORE LATE, UPEND CONDORS 5-3
Mar 2, 2022San Jose, CA – The San Jose Barracuda (16-28-1-0) snapped a four-game skid at home with a 5-3 win over the Bakersfield Condors (22-13-4-5) on Wednesday night at Sharks Ice at San Jose. With the victory, the team is now 3-1 against the Condors at home this year.
- Nick Merkley (9) netted the game-winning goal with one minute and 35 seconds left in regulation and has scored in three-consecutive games. Merkley also notched an assist in the win and has points in four-straight games (3+2=5).
- John Leonard (12) scored at 1:15 of the first period and also collected an assist.
- After missing 14-straight games with a facial injury, Nick Cicek (3) returned to the lineup and potted his third goal of the year.
- Joachim Blichfeld (16) is now just two goals off the team lead after lighting the lamp on the power-play in the second period.
- Zachary Emond (2-2-0) made 23 saves to earn the win, including all nine in the third period.
- Stuart Skinner (10-2-4) suffered just his third loss ever against the Barracuda, allowing four goals on 28 shots.
- The victory was the Barracuda’s first in regulation since Jan. 23 (5-2 W vs. BAK)
