BARRACUDA TOP REIGN 4-1, EXTEND WINNING STREAK TO EIGHT
Feb 12, 2017San Jose, CA - The San Jose Barracuda (27-11-1-2) extended its winning streak to a franchise-high eight games with a pivotal Pacific Division victory of the Ontario Reign (24-12-8-0) ,4-1, at SAP Center on Sunday night. Troy Grosenick made 23 saves to match a career high seventh-straight win.
San Jose captured an opening period lead on Dan Kelly's first as a member of the Barracuda in his 31st game at 7:47. The veteran blueliner fired a rising slap shot from the left point through traffic and over the right shoulder of Jack Campbell. The Reign were able to even the score as after Patrick Bjorkstrand (6) redirected T.J. Hensick's shot from the right circle at 16:30.
In the second, the Barracuda held the Reign to zero shots through the first 18 minutes and 50 seconds, and Nikolay Goldobin recaptured San Jose's advantage as he fired a shot past Campbell from along the goal line at 13:43.
In the third, Nikita Jevpalovs (8) gave the Barracuda some insurance as he chipped a rebound past Campbell at 3:42 after Michael Brodzinski's shot got blocked in front. Barclay Goodrow sealed the victory (16) with an empty netter at 18:17.
Campbell (21-9-5) allowed three goals on 29 shots and suffered his second consecutive loss.
