BARRACUDA SHUTOUT BY RAMPAGE 3-0 IN SAN ANTONIO
Jan 25, 2018
SAN ANTONIO, TX - The San Jose Barracuda (19-17-1-2) allowed three first-period goals to the San Antonio Rampage (23-16-4-0) on Thursday at AT&T Center and couldn't come back from the early deficit, falling 3-0.
A minute and 25 seconds into the first, Rocco Grimaldi (13) received a cross-ice pass from Klim Kostin before snapping a short-side shot to make it 1-0 Rampage. After being hooked on a breakaway, Kostin (5) would get his second point of the period by beating Antoine Bibeau a penalty shot at 5:48. Late in the third, Sam Blais (10) completed the three-goal period by backhanding a loose puck in from close range at 16:48.
In the second, San Jose went on a pair of man-advantages but couldn't cut into San Antonio's lead in the second frame. In the third, the Barracuda outshot the Rampage 13-to-10, and Danny O'Regan had a penalty shot after being hooked on a breakaway, but Ville Husso poke-checked the puck away, and the Barracuda couldn't find the back of the net after that point.
Bibeau (12-8-1) settled into the game and made several high-end saves after the first, but took the hard-luck loss after allowing three goals on 41 shots. On the other end, Husso (10-9-1) earned the win by making all 29 saves to earn his third career AHL shutout.
