Barracuda Comeback to Win 5-4
Dec 20, 2015San Jose, CA –The San Jose Barracuda (10-9-2-3, 25pts) presented by Barracuda Networks came back from a 3-0 deficit to beat the visiting Stockton Heat (9-11-0-2, 20pts) 5-4 in front of 4,181 fans at the SAP Center on Sunday afternoon. The Barracuda return to action after a five day holiday break on Sunday, Dec 27 at 5pm vs. the Stockton Heat at the SAP Center.
Micheal Haley (1-0-1), Barclay Goodrow (1-2-3), Nikolai Goldobin (1-0-1), Gus Young (1-0-1) and Petter Emanuelsson (1-0-1) all scored for the Barracuda in the 5-4 win over the visiting Stockton Heat. Jeremy Langlois and Joakim Ryan each added two assists as San Jose snapped a three game losing skid. The Barracuda were trailing 3-0 with nine minutes gone in the second period and came back to score four goals in a span of 3:22. Troy Grosenick made 26 saves in the win. Four different players scored for the Heat and goaltender Joni Ortio made 26 saves in the loss.
Stockton took advantage on two of their scoring opportunities in the second period. Freddie Hamilton (7th) received a pass in the slot and beat Troy Grosenick on a quick snap shot in front of the net to put the Heat on the scoreboard at 10:31. Moments later, Grosenick made a highlight reel save, diving backwards in front of the open net to keep the difference at one goal. A minute and a half later the Heat doubled their lead thanks to Emile Poirer (4th) who received a centering pass from behind the net and put a quick snap shot over Grosenick’s shoulder and into the back of the net. With three minutes remaining in the period Frazer McLaren (3rd FM) got into fisticuffs with Hunter Smith (3rd FM) in a great toe-to-toe battle to try and gain momentum for the Barracuda. San Jose went into the first intermission down 2-0, with shots in favor of Stockton 11-6.
Alex Gallant received a major charging penalty and a game misconduct for a hit on Poirer at 6:31 which seemed to change the tone of the game. Morgan Klimchuck (1st) scored his first goal as a pro on the power play at 8:58 to put the Heat up 3-0.
The Barracuda turned the tides and went on a 4-0 goal run in span of 3 minutes and 22 seconds. Micheal Haley (5th) scored the first Barracuda goal on a shorthanded breakaway attempt that bounced over the goal line an in past Joni Ortio.
Barclay Goodrow (9th) scored the second goal on the power play after a shot bounced off the boards behind the net and to the back post where he poked it in.
Nikolai Goldobin (6th) scored the third off of a faceoff in the right circle and sent a wrister glove side that beat Heat goaltender Joni Ortio to tie it up 3-3.
Gus Young scored the 4th goal at 12:54 on a rebound in front of the net to give the Barracuda the 4-3 lead heading into the second intermission.
The Barracuda scored goals two, three and four in a matter of 50 seconds. San Jose outshot the Stockton 14-10 in the second period.
San Jose increased their lead 5-3 after Petter Emanuelsson (3rd) sniped a wrist shot top shelf and lit the lamp at 12:35 in the third period after a feed from Barclay Goodrow. Stockton fought back with Austin Carroll (3rd) scoring at 16:34 to make it a one goal game but it was too little too late.
Troy Grosenick and the Barracuda held strong to complete the win outshooting the Heat 11-9 in the third period.

Scott Timmins (inj), Daniel Doremus (inj), Greger Hanson, and Julius Bergman did not dress for the Barracuda… forward Barclay Goodrow returned to the Barracuda lineup as he was loaned from the SJ Sharks on Dec 19….rookie Alex Gallant made his SAP Center debut for the Barracuda after playing his 1st five games on the road this season – Gallant picked up a season high 17 minutes of penalties….Ryan Carpenter now has a four game point streak (1-8-9)…the Barracuda will have Monday through Friday off for the holidays… Barracuda Coach Roy Sommer is now 9 wins away from becoming the most winningest coach in AHL history…. San Jose was whistled for a season high 32 penalty minutes.
