San Jose's home opener at SAP Center is slated for Fri., Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. against the defending Calder Champion Grand Rapids Griffins and will be a rematch of the 2017 Western Conference Finals.
In 34 home games, San Jose will play one Monday game, one Tuesday game, seven Wednesday games, one Thursday game, seven Friday games, nine Saturday games, and eight Sunday games.
The Barracuda will host a season-high six game homestand from Nov. 5 to Nov. 22 and will embark on a season-long six game road trip from Jan. 19 to Feb. 2. The 68-game regular season schedule comes to an end with a visit to Stockton on April 14.
The 2017 Barracuda promotional schedule will be released at a later date.
The Barracuda are entering its third season playing in San Jose, following the American Hockey Leagues creation of a Pacific Division of the AHL, consisting of eight teams - all of whom serve as primary development affiliations for the National Hockey League: San Jose (Sharks), Bakersfield (Edmonton Oilers), Ontario (Los Angeles Kings), San Antonio (Colorado Avalanche), San Diego (Anaheim Ducks), Stockton (Calgary Flames), Texas (Dallas Stars), and Tucson (Arizona Coyotes).
Many of the players on the Sharks playoff roster made their journey to the National Hockey League by playing and developing in the AHL, including Logan Couture, Brent Burns, Justin Braun, Dylan DeMelo, Brenden Dillon, Martin Jones, Chris Tierney, Joel Ward, Timo Meier, Marcus Sorensen, and Aaron Dell.
This year's Barracuda squad is poised to build off its historic season in 2016-17, in which the club finished the regular season with the Western Conference's best winning percentage (.699) and unprecedented postseason run that saw San Jose reach the Conference Finals, a feat never before accomplished by a Sharks AHL affiliate.
With limited jobs available with the San Jose Sharks, the Barracuda could see several returning players in 2017-18. Including John McCarthy, Barclay Goodrow, Ryan Carpenter, Colin Blackwell, Adam Helewka, Alex Schoenborn, Rourke Chartier, Kevin Labanc, Danny O'Regan, Jon Martin, Tim Clifton, Colby McAuley, Joakim Ryan, Julius Bergman, Jacob Middleton, Tim Heed, Michael Brodzinski, Nick DeSimone, and Troy Grosenick.
